Tomatoes, only when they matter
The ingredient that tells us summer has arrived.

A tomato can be ordinary for most of the year. Then, for a few weeks, it becomes everything.
Follow the season.
We wait until the fruit is heavy, fragrant and a little uneven. It needs only torn basil, olive oil and salt. More would be less.
It is a reminder that a kitchen is at its best when it listens before it adds.
Ask for bread and leave nothing behind.
ONE MORE THING
Everything is better when it is shared. Pass the story along.
